WIDNER RESCUES THE MUSTANGS!

Wake Widner capped a furious Mustang rally in the bottom of the 7th inning with a two-RBI game winning double to lead the Mustangs to victory over the Ripon Indians. The Indians and Mustangs came into the game tied for second place in the TVL standings at 8-3 each with four games left to play. Both teams trailed the Escalon Cougars by one game. The Mustangs jumped to a one run lead but watched the Indians score four unanswered runs. Ripon held a 4-1 lead until the bottom of the 7th when the Mustangs received two walks and a rare catcher's interference to load the bases. Isaac Natividad beat out an infield single to score one run and Julian Sainz grounded into a fielder's choice to plate another run making the score 4-3 Indians with two outs. A double steal by Natividad and Sainz rattled the Indians defense and Hunter Perugi was issued a walk. Widner then marched to the plate for his late inning heroics. The Mustangs are 12-7 overall and 9-3 in the TVL.
