MERCY! EAGLES RUN WILD OVER WINDJAMMERS

The Eagles took advantage of nine free passes and multiple wild pitches to walk past Camden Hills, 14-2. Katelyn Cox led the Eagles offense with a single, a double, and a triple. The Eagles put the game out of reach with a seven-run third inning during which they sent 12 batters to the plate. Katelyn Cox delivered the big hit with a two-run triple. Sam Gonyea, subbing in ably for the sick Kate Guerin, picked up her first hit of the year to drive in the 14th run and end the game in the bottom of the fifth. Alana Weaver picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles with another consistent performance. NOTES: Camden Hills apparently did not get the memo - You don't run on Kayleigh Temple. Kayleigh gunned down two runners attempting to steal. In the first inning, after a lead-off single by the 'Jammers Latisha Billings, Kayleigh threw her out at second by five feet as Katelyn Cox applied the tag. Later in the game, Kayleigh gunned down Billings again. This time she was attempting to steal third. Kayleigh threw a bullet to Zoe Stilphen who had time to eat a ham sandwich while waiting to apply the tag. UNUSUAL PLAY DEPARTMENT - In the second inning with a runner on first, the Jammers Taylor Paisley hit a hard grounder to short. The ball took a Tony Kubek-like bad bounce and hit shortstop Katelyn Cox in the chest. The ball rolled fortuitously 15 feet right to Sara Lamb covering second for the force out. Kaitlyn, unlike Tony, was not hurt on the play.
