Maroons fall to Manual

MAROONS FALL TO MANUAL

Playing without leading scorer Tim Finke while the sophomore recovers from a concussion he suffered against Peoria Manual on Tuesday night, Champaign Central lost 54-48 to Peoria Richwoods on Friday night at Combes Gym. Matthew Sharick and Jake Beesley each finished with 12 points for the Maroons (4-6), who lost their fourth consecutive game. “To Richwoods’ credit, they played very well,” first-year Central coach Jeff Finke said. “They attacked the rim and spread us out.” Central doesn’t play again until Dec. 28 at the 73rd annual Centralia Holiday Tournament. Whether or not Tim Finke, one of the state’s top 2018 prospects, plays then is unclear. “He’s day-to-day,” Jeff Finke said. “We’re evaluating him. His recovery is normal, which thus far, his symptoms have lessened every day. He still definitely has a concussion, so he’s not released yet. We’re going to be very cautious and listen to the doctors and trainers and get him back when he’s ready.”
