Starting 11
Forward: Wilmer Holguin / Kelvin Fosu
Midfield: Bilal Diaby /Ibhrahem Bamba / Edwin Mejia / Al-houssein Kallo
Defense: Rafael Perez / Mingoro Kone / Julian Nunez /Jason Hutchinson
1st Goal: 1 – 0 DP
Freshman Kelvin Fosu opened his DP scoring account 4 minutes in to the game. After some strong build up through the midfield, Freshman Bilal Diaby beat his man around the corner, took the ball in to the 18 year box along the goal line, and teed up Fosu just inside the six yard box. Fosu 0ne-timed it low to the corner, beating Inwood’s keeper at the near post.
2nd Goal: 1 – 1
Inwood equalized midway through the first half. Tough weather conditions led to a fluke of an equalizer with a bizarre bounce off a long free kick.
3rd Goal: 2 – 1 DP
Senior Edwin Mejia sent in a hard cross, stretching the Inwood defense, resulting in a handball. Diaby took the PK and sent the Dragons ahead with a well struck ball to the upper right corner.
The midfield kept the pressure on hard throughout the second half with the vast majority of chances coming for the Dragons. The defense kept a talented and athletic Inwood top line off the scoring sheet, beating them to most 50/50 balls. Any chances came from dead balls which were well marked thanks to an organized backline courtesy of Senior GK Anthony Aybar, Sophomore Sweeper Julian Nunez, and Junior Stopper Mingoro Kone.
4th Goal: 3 – 1 DP
The constant pressured paid off when, from one of many second half DP corners, Mejia sent in a curling corner just outside the middle of the six yard box, drawing the goalie off his line. Junior Ibhrahem Bamba made solid contact and steered his header past the oncoming keeper.
DP’s Player of the Game: Ibhrahem Bamba
