GIRLS GOLF RESULTS

Colgan (2nd) & Vrana (3rd) lead Wahoo to runner-up finish @ Arlington Invite Arlington Invitational – 9.22.15 The Warriors were back in action Tuesday at the Arlington Invitational. The tournament was played at the challenging Fremont Country Club. Highlighted by a couple season-best performances, the Warriors finished as the runner-up as a team! Leading the way individually was senior Emily Colgan. Colgan finished as the runner-up, shooting a season-best 107. One shot behind Colgan was fellow senior Alexis Vrana. Vrana’s 108 was good for 3rd place. Also medaling for the Warriors was Junior Hannah Polacek. Polacek shot a 121, which was good for 11th place. Also playing were Maddie Rappl and Hannah Brust. Both girls finished the day with a 138. “It was good to see both Emily and Alexis shoot season-best scores on one of the hardest courses that we will play all season,” said Coach Curtis Carlson. “The key for both girls was putting. Both girls finished with less than 36 putts, which is always the goal. Emily was able to take advantage of the par 5’s on the back by shooting par on a couple of them.” Crete Invitational – 9.18.15 After focusing on their swings during the midweek, the girls were back in action Friday at the Crete Invitational. The girls were forced to play through on and off rain during the tournament played at College Heights Golf Club. Leading the way was junior Hannah Polacek. Polacek started her day off with a 52, highlighted by shooting pars on the par 4 5th hole and the par 4 9th hole. She followed up her 52 with a 59 to finish with a 111. Three shots behind her was Emily Colgan. Colgan’s day started off with a shaky 59, but she bounced back nicely with a 55 to finish with a 114. Hannah Brust had the next best score with a 122. Brust’s round was highlighted by a par on the par 4 5th hole. Five shots behind Brust was Maddie Rappl. Rappl finished with a 127. The high point of her round was a par on the par 4 1st hole. Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors was freshman Anna Dobesh. Dobesh, playing the first 18 holes of her career, shot a 130. On the back 9 she carded a 59. On the back she had pars on both the very challenging par 3’s, and added 3 other bogeys. “The girls did a great job of handling the challenging conditions. Hannah Polacek had a great first nine with a 52. The difference between the front and the back was putting. If Emily can eliminate some of her putts she would have been very close to placing,” said Coach Curtis Carlson. “Hannah Brust’s swing has really come a long way in the last week. The key now is to continue to improve on and around the greens. Maddie had some great shots today, but just needs to work on eliminating the bad swings. The surprise of the day for me was Anna. Shooting a 59 on the back with a couple pars on the par 3 is very impressive. She was the only girl in the field to par them both. That is awesome for someone who started swinging a club in July.”
